As of this week, ROMA in Rice Village now serves cocktails, including the “ROMA” a classic Italian spritz inspired by the Italian capital’s cafés.

“ROMA is such a popular date night destination,” says ROMA owner Shanon Scott, “and I frequently get requests for cocktails when my guests arrive. I worked my way through college as a bartender and I’ve always wanted to have a mixology program here. And so the time felt right to launch a full bar.”

With the arrival of spring, Shanon is also looking forward to serving guests cocktails on the new remodeled patio, a popular spot for couples and families alike.

“There’s nothing like relaxing at the end of the day on the patio,” says Shanon, “with a classic Italian spritz in your hand.”

For the launch of the restaurant’s new cocktail service, Shanon created the “ROMA” (above), a spritz inspired by the outdoor cafés of the Italian capital.

Recipe: In a shaker, muddle one slice of blood orange and fresh mint; add ice and 3 oz. Campari, 3 oz. Aperol, and 3 oz. Prosecco; shake well and strain into lowball glass over ice; garnish with fresh mint and blood orange slice.
